Fishery Campaign Manager
Oceana Staff

He still has his first copy of Burt Dow, Deep Water Man by Robert McCloskey. He reads it every once in a while. It reminds him of his home in Maine and the summers that he spent on the water and all of the wonderful things that can come out of the ocean.

He has followed the ocean and seen all sorts of great things along the way: Whale sharks gliding through the Gulf Stream, Tarpon rolling to breathe on glass calm Florida mornings, Cow-nosed rays schooling in the Chesapeake, and juvenile Bald Eagles pulling fish from a saltwater waterfall near the Canadian border.
He has also seen horrible things in his travels. Juvenile sharks caught in shrimp nets in Alabama, Queen Angelfish for sale in Virgin Island fish markets, and ghost towns where fishing industries have collapsed all the way along. Fortunately, he has the ability to teach these things. Showing these things to the world, both the good and the bad, will ultimately let the good things continue and the bad to stop.
