A well-aged pile of National Geographic magazines ignited Gregg's love for nature and storytelling.

Award-winning advocacy communicator Gregg Yan led the Communications and Media Unit of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in the Philippines, investigating various ecological and anthropological issues to write stories for books, broadsheets, journals and magazines.

An awarded photographer whose images have been used by National Geographic, Discovery Channel, CNN, ARKIVE, the Scientific American and other top media groups, he is also a seasoned presenter with hundreds of public speaking engagements on a diverse range of topics, ranging from climate change to conservation.

He spearheaded Earth Hour Philippines media initiatives from 2008 to 2016, generating $5 million in exposure from Earth Hour 2012 alone, helping make the Philippines among the world’s top Earth Hour countries.

Outside WWF, he leads the Best Alternatives Campaign, mentors emerging leaders through the ASEAN Youth Leaders Association and develops innovative communication strategies via the Asia Pacific Association of Communication Directors.

Other awards include the Asia Pacific Insider Business Awards’ Advocacy Communicator for the Year and the Foundation for the Philippine Environment’s Special Recognition for Writing. In 2013, he was awarded by Reader’s Digest Asia as one of the most trusted people in the Philippines.

In his spare time, Gregg climbs mountains to be among wildlife and helps conduct coral reef research as a Master SCUBA Diver and Reef Check EcoDiver. Now part of the Oceana family, he leads and develops communications campaigns to help save the oceans and feed the world.
