Leeza Bradford originally came to Oceana in October 2016 to help us in several important temporary positions, until transitioning into the role of Global Development Assistant in May 2017. Leeza says she is most excited by the opportunity to work alongside a talented group joined by an important cause to protect the world’s oceans.
Prior to Oceana, Leeza held several positions in the academic sector. Most recently she was the Director’s Assistant for a study abroad program in Moscow, Russia. There she helped shape the curriculum by creating weekly excursion schedules, stepping in as a tour guide, and helping students from James Madison University with the cultural and linguistic transition.
Leeza is originally from Russia. She graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree from George Mason University, majoring in Conflict Analysis and Resolution and Spanish. During her last semester there, she was a Research Assistant, a position in which she researched the Accomarca Massacre in Peru, focusing on trials and accountability.
In her free time, Leeza loves to hike with her cat, Yasha, and her husband, Michael. She also loves to travel, draw, swim and explore new places.
