Oceana is an international organization that focuses solely on oceans, and is dedicated to achieving measurable change by conducting scientific, fact-based campaigns with fixed deadlines and articulated goals. Oceana is dedicated to its advocacy on behalf of oceans and channels its resources to achieve measurable outcomes that will help return our oceans to former levels of abundance. These campaigns are regional and international, led by teams of dedicated and talented scientists, economists, lawyers and advocates focused on measuring and achieving tangible results for the oceans.
Oceana seeks a Policy Intern to work closely with Oceana’s government relations team in support of our advocacy work. The intern will assist on a variety of projects including researching, writing, and editing. There may be opportunities to accompany staff to congressional meetings, attend congressional hearings and other events, and network with other environmental advocates.
Oceana prefers that interns be available to work 40 hours a week for 3-6 months in the Washington, D.C. headquarters. This is a paid internship. Oceana accepts interns who receive academic credit for their internship. Both recent graduates and graduate students are encouraged to apply.
