Ben Harper is a musician known for his environmental and human rights activism. He attended Oceana’s 2008 Partners Award Gala and made a web video about surfing, conservation and Oceana.
In the video he says: "They're really making it happen. Oceana is extraordinary, they're a group of scientists that work tirelessly in reversing the tide of ocean pollution, refortifying the ocean in polluted areas, and reversing the damage done, as well as to stop it."
Harper won two Grammy awards in 2005 for Best Pop Instrumental Performance and Best Traditional Soul Gospel Album for There Will Be a Light, a collaboration with the Blind Boys of Alabama
Most recently, in May 2009 Ben Harper and Relentless7 released the rock album “White Lies for Dark Times.”
