My heart belongs to my hometown of Lawrence, Kansas, but I am thankful for the great opportunities I’ve had to travel to more aquatic locales. Along with snorkeling, scuba diving and relaxing on beaches from Hawaii to Thailand, I spent a summer working on a private yacht touring New England. Having witnessed firsthand the kind of pollution that occurred on that 140-foot boat, imagining the amount of waste created by a cruise ship is mind boggling.
Along with my appreciation of the beauty and relaxation of the ocean, I have strong feelings about environmentalism, conservation and reducing negative human impact on the earth. I particularly love talking and thinking about wildlife issues. I’m so excited to be working at Oceana, with its proven track-record of success on the issues closest to my heart.
