Grassroots Campaign Manager, Climate and Energy Campaign
Washington, DC, USA
Nancy Pyne is the Grassroots Manager for Oceana's Climate and Energy Team. She oversees the Grassroots organizers along the East Coast, and works with volunteers and coalition partners across the country in order to prevent the expansion of offshore drilling to the Atlantic and promote offshore wind energy. Nancy is thrilled to combine her passion for fighting climate change with her love of ocean ecosystems.
Before coming to Oceana, Nancy worked as an Advocate for Environment America, running their national parks and public lands conservation campaigns. She first cut her teeth as a field organizer at Environment Connecticut working to pass climate change legislation. She also directed summer campaign offices in Hartford, Connecticut, working to restore the Clean Water Act. She holds a BA in Biology and Society from Cornell University, and did her senior research project on offshore drilling policy leading up to and following the 2008 presidential election. She grew up in New York City, where her family spent many summer days at Rockaway and Jones beaches. She credits the Bronx Zoo for fostering her passion for conservation and fondness for wildlife.
