Alaskan born and raised, I was honored to return to Juneau and lend my knowledge of the environment as the Pacific Communications Manager to the Oceana Pacific Staff.
After spending time in Arizona and Montana while I received a B.A. in Ecology from the University of Montana, I realized a part of me was missing. After moving back to Alaska I realized the missing piece was the ocean.
Growing up on the waters of the Alaskan Inside Passage, I developed a respectful and humble relationship with the sea. Spending time fishing, tide pooling, and kayaking helped me appreciate what the ocean has to give. Ultimately, the ocean helped define who I am today. The ocean has a way of silently putting life into perspective and simultaneously causing a person to realize what is important.
I will forever be an ocean advocate and I am honored to work for such a great organization. I feel it is our duty as a society to replace what we have taken from the ocean, a work towards a sustainable future.
