Growing up in Florida there was no way to escape the ocean. I learned to walk on the Gulf coast shores in St. Petersburg and became attached to the marvelous resource we were blessed with in Florida. But I also realized that many others do not share that view, and our oceans face numerous threats.
After graduating from the University of Florida, my work in the environmental field has taken me across the country including the very land locked South Dakota, but coastal issues have never been far from my mind. My passion is around how our country uses energy, and with the Gulf oil spill there was never a clearer moment that we take our oceans for granted.
Oceana’s climate and energy campaign addresses one of the most pressing issues we face today as a country and it is a privilege to be part of this incredible organization.
