On-board Diary: Media interviews onboard
Author: Dustin Cranor
Date: August 6, 2010
I arrived at the Oceana Latitude early this morning to prepare for a full day of media interviews onboard the Oceana Latitude. Oceana’s expedition leaders, Xavier Pastor and Dr. Michael Hirshfield were interviewed by David Fleshler of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Tom Brown of Thomson Reuters, Curtis Morgan of The Miami Herald and Jeff Burnside of NBC Miami. This exposure was great for Oceana in south Florida and for the expedition worldwide.
During the interviews, crews were applying the Oceana logo to the sides of the large vessel. The Oceana staff is getting more eager about the expedition with every passing day. This was supported by the arrival of our new Oceana/Nautica uniforms. Oceana is lucky to have Nautica as a corporate partner.
The satellite internet and phone system was also installed this afternoon. This system will allow us to easily communicate while at sea.
