Greater Weever Trachinus draco
The greater weever is one of very few venomous fish found in European waters. It has a long body, large eyes, and two dorsal fins, the first of which has venomous spines. During the day, the greater weever lies buried in the sand with just its eyes and fin-tip exposed.
A painful wound can result from stepping on the greater weever in shallow water.
