Sea Apple Pseudocolochirus tricolor
The sea apple is one of the most colorful of all sea cucumbers and is widely collected for use in marine aquariums. It has a red and purple body and yellow tentacles. The species in the genus Pseudocolochirus are often hard to distinguish and for this reason the distribution map may include several species. The sea apple uses its tube feet to attach itself to rocks then extends its branched tentacles into the water to trap organic particles. From time to time, each tentacle is pushed into the mouth and the food it has trapped is wiped off.
