Amelia Vorpahl is the day-to-day communications lead for the Responsible Fishing campaign and works on a variety of issues, such as increasing awareness of bycatch and threats facing sharks and sea turtles.
Prior to joining Oceana as a communications manager, Amelia worked in the newsroom at several Wisconsin newspapers, as well as with the media team at a non-profit focusing on low-income budget issues.
Amelia graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 2010 with a B.A. in journalism and international studies and a certificate in Middle Eastern studies. Originally from Milwaukee, she has always had an interest in the water and marine life and is pleased to bring her communication experience to Oceana to help preserve and protect the world’s oceans.
