Juneau, AK, USA
Growing up in Southeast Alaska has spoiled me. When you can watch humpback whales, harbor porpoises, river otters, or Great Blue herons while drinking your morning coffee, I think it’s safe to say you’re pretty lucky. I can’t imagine ever living far from the ocean. In fact, to be honest, I never have. Most of my best memories involve the ocean: surfing in Kodiak, sea kayak trips through glacial fjords, watching a Steller sea lion play with a humpback whale feet from my kayak, exploring tidepools as a little girl, family fishing trips. I am endlessly fascinated with the ocean and its inhabitants, and it is this fascination that drives me to want to work to protect them. There are many places in the world just as unique, vibrant, and special as Southeast Alaska and I am proud to be part of a team of passionate and intelligent individuals who work every day to protect them to ensure that they can continue to fascinate and inspire us for years to come.
