Race for the Oceans
Olympic gold medalist Aaron Peirsol also swims to raise awareness about the threats facing our oceans. He hopes this partnership with Oceana will encourage other swimmers to race for the oceans as well.
Love a Sea Turtle
Help Them L.AS.T. (Love a Sea Turtle) is the website of twelve-year-old Casey Sokolovic, who was a finalist in Oceana’s 2009 Ocean Hero Contest. Through her creative fundraising efforts, she has raised more than $3000 for the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in Topsail Island, North Carolina. For the 2009 holiday adoption center, Oceana created a “Casey Kit” in her honor, which contains a sea turtle cookie cutter and plush turtle.
January Jones is Scared for Sharks
Actress January Jones, who plays Betty Draper on AMC's award-winning series, “Mad Men," is a spokesperson for Oceana’s campaign to save sharks. She traveled to the Bahamas, where she swam with sharks to show that she is scared for sharks, not of them.

Kate Walsh Wants to Get Sea Turtles Off the Hook
Actress Kate Walsh, best known for her role on ABC’s “Private Practice,” recently joined Oceana’s campaign to save sea turtles. In summer 2009, Kate traveled with Oceana to the U.S. Virgin Islands, where she witnessed leatherbacks nesting and hatching, swam with green sea turtles, and learned about the many threats sea turtles face.
