Fundraising is, in my experience, the key element for protecting the world´s oceans. Without our donors and partners, we would be unable to save sharks, create safe marine havens for threatened whales and turtles or even protect the livelihoods and food sources for coastal communities.
Anne is a senior manager in Oceana Europe’s development team, leading fundraising relationships with large foundations and major donors. Prior to that, she worked as Head of Major Gifts in an international disability charity, focused on children’s education and disability rights.
Anne first joined Oceana Europe in 2007. She came as a campaign manager from a large international NGO and since then, she led many marine conservation campaigns for Oceana, protecting sharks, fighting illegal fishing and ending fishing subsidies in WTO. Anne also led the Baltic project and Oceana’s Copenhagen office until 2012, working on expanding Marine Protected Areas and overfishing.
Anne's love affair with the oceans began as a small child when she learned to swim on shores of the German North Sea. She is a keen diver, windsurfer and more recently a sand-castle builder with her two boys.
