Ocean Advocate
Oceana Staff

Ariana leads federal advocacy efforts for Oceana’s U.S. campaigns focused on sharks, North Atlantic right whales, responsible fishing, and illegal, unregulated and unreported (IUU) fishing.

Prior to joining Oceana, she was a legislative aide in the office of U.S. Senator Cory Booker, where she managed the senator's ocean and coastal portfolio and supported his broader energy and environment priorities. She was formerly a NOAA Sea Grant Knauss Legislative Fellow in the office.

In addition to her work in the Senate, Ariana previously held positions with the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ), Yale University, and the Environmental Law Institute (ELI). At ELI, she supported a multi-year campaign focused on strengthening public participation in Deepwater Horizon oil spill recovery and restoration in the Gulf of Mexico.

Ariana hails from eastern Massachusetts, where she fell in love with the sea during family trips to Cape Cod. She holds a B.S. in human biology from Brown University and an M.E.M. from the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies.
