Catalina studied marine biology at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. As part of her studies, in the summer of 2015 she did her first professional practice in the Strait of Magellan, where she collaborated in research on humpback whales that feed on that area.
From November 2015 to February 2016 she did her professional practice at Oceana helping in the fisheries recovery campaign. As of August 2016 she continues to work in the organization as a scientific researcher supporting the fisheries recovery and habitat protection campaigns.
From her childhood she showed a great interest in the sea and she felt the importance of preserving and raising awareness about the environmental problems that affect our oceans as well as the planet in general.
