Jacob Ross is the Field Campaigns Fellow for Oceana, based in Washington, D.C.
He works closely with Oceana’s U.S. Field Team to maximize outreach and volunteer communications, and supports Oceana’s organizing efforts in coastal Maryland and Delaware. Jacob is a true organizer who believes that the quickest way to solve increasingly complex environmental challenges is to mobilize a diverse constituency to fight for the economic and environmental systems that they depend on.
Prior to joining Oceana in September of 2018, Jacob was the Associate Director of Campaigns for Rethink Energy Florida, where he led recruiting efforts and digital strategy to pass a fracking ban through the Florida Senate. As the Field Organizer for Brandon Peters for Congress, he also led “Get out the Vote” operations across Florida’s largest Congressional district, securing over 60% of the primary vote in 13 counties.
Jacob holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Political Science from Florida State University. In his free time, he enjoys reading about U.S. political and social movements, kayaking the Potomac, and visiting his one-year-old niece and family in the Sunshine State.
