Nury Márquez

As Director of Development, Nury leads efforts to expand Oceana’s portfolio of individual donors and to increase their giving through major gifts and events.

She brings almost 20 years of philanthropic experience from both the corporate and non-profit sectors. In addition to dedicating her professional career to non-profits, she has also served as a volunteer with many non-profits. Prior to joining Oceana, Nury served with the Jane Goodall Institute where she managed major giving, grant writing and stewardship. During her tenure the development operations experienced many improvements that enhanced the quality of the donor experience and elevated their level of support. She collaborated with the Africa program staff and led donor visits to project sites.

Nury is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Political Science.  She minored in French and is fluent in Spanish, her native language.Nury enjoys traveling and learning about other cultures. The Ionian Sea counts as her all-time favorite ocean waters. Nury’s first memorable sighting of marine mammals was watching whales off the coast of New England. In her spare time you can find Nury biking on the WO&D trail.
