Ican't say I am Oceana's ideal candidate...I was born in a city surrounded by mountains, I barely can swim, and I can't eat most fish.
Even though it seems there are not so many connections between me and the ocean, I do contemplate its beauty and power and I recognize its vital importance in and to our lives.
Although before Oceana I worked on the human side of the development sector, I can see how the oceans are in fact connected to human development: as a source of income, livelihood and nutrition for many.
Protecting these blue treasures is everyone's right and duty. I’d like to think that even in a small percentage I can contribute - through my development work - to the numerous challenges facing our oceans.
