Madeline Collins is a staff attorney at Oceana. She brings litigation and public interest experience to this role.
Before joining Oceana, Madeline worked for the State Energy & Environmental Impact Center at NYU School of Law. There, she provided strategic legal advisement to state Attorneys General on administrative, judicial, and legislative matters involving environmental and energy topics of regional and national significance.
Prior to working at the Center, Madeline served as an Assistant District Attorney in New York. As a trial and appellate attorney, Madeline completed investigations, engaged in motion practice, brought cases to trial, wrote appellate briefs, and conducted oral arguments before the Supreme Court of the State of New York, Appellate Division and Appellate Term (Second Department).
Madeline holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in environmental law from Vermont Law School, where she graduated summa cum laude. She also holds a Juris Doctorate from St. John’s University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in English and marketing from La Salle University, where she graduated summa cum laude from La Salle’s Honors Program and played Division 1 lacrosse.
Raised in a family of public servants, Madeline believes in the power of an individual to drive positive change. Over the last two decades, she has volunteered with environmental and social nonprofit organizations in New Jersey, New York City, Long Island, and Philadelphia. When not working, Madeline enjoys freedive spearfishing on the East Coast and internationally; beach camping, surfing, and cooking over the fire with friends and family; and exploring a variety of art mediums.
