Mario has established working relations with local government units, the provincial environment/fisheries office, city/municipal agriculture and environment officers, and worked closely with fisherfolk and coastal communities in the Philippines as the Campaign Grassroots Coordinator. 

He studied Mass Communication and Media Studies and graduated Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation. He has wide experience in Broadcast and Television media for eight years. He also served as a former staff of Amnesty International Philippines and VSO (Volunteer Service Overseas) volunteer in Baglung District, Nepal as an Eco-Tourism Advisor.

He has worked for almost 10 years in the Coastal and Fisheries Resource Management project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and has been the 1st paid staff of Amnesty International in the Philippines 

He loves community theater and street plays . 

He is a proud son of a Filipino fisherman
