Oceana, the largest international organization focused solely on ocean conservation, invites the communities of Oregon to witness an expert discussion regarding the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill and how it relates to the Oregon coast. Panelists will discuss past, present and future oil developments in the Gulf of Mexico. Additionally, panelists will discuss the science, policy, law and community development components considered for energy production and the missing pieces that must be put in place.

Aside from representing a collective failure to prevent new oil spills, the Deepwater Horizon event demonstrates the urgent need to develop new oil spill response capabilities and the need for alternative energy production.
