Financials
Oceana’s support comes from foundations, organizations and individuals in more than 150 countries. Oceana benefits not only from cash contributions, but also from generous in-kind contributions of goods and services.
Oceana’s contributors provide the support that is essential to our campaigns to preserve and rebuild ocean life. In 2022, Oceana received cash and commitments from our generous donors totaling $46 million, of which approximately $31 million was time- or program-restricted support and approximately $15 million was unrestricted.
Expenses totaled $45 million in 2022, of which $34 million was paid from restricted funds, and $11 million was paid from unrestricted funds. Of every dollar of expenses, approximately 78 cents were spent directly on Oceana’s programs. The remainder was spent on general and administrative costs (about 14 cents) and raising funds (about 8 cents).
