Genomics Researcher

My name is Adrián Munguia-Vega I am a researcher in Genomics. I collaborate with the Applied Genomics Lab in Mexico and the University of Arizona in the United States.

I am passionate about discovering the species that live in the depths of the ocean. I specialize in using molecular tools to describe, conserve and manage biodiversity.

During the expedition I will take water samples to isolate the environmental DNA. With this technology we will be able to describe in a more precise way the marine biodiversity present in the Alacranes and Bajos del Norte reefs. This work will allow us to have a baseline of marine biodiversity in the area to measure changes that may occur in the future.
