Gillian is Oceana’s Deputy Director of Communications, based in Oceana’s Washington, DC headquarters. She leads the organization’s public relations and public affairs efforts, raises brand awareness, and secures national and international press for Oceana’s campaigns.

Gillian grew up in Maryland, but found a love for the oceans by spending summers on Florida’s gulf coast, snorkeling and collecting seashells. She developed a passion for environmental protection and wildlife conservation while studying at the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina. After earning her bachelor’s degree in Communication, Gillian returned to Washington, D.C. to work in Congress for the Congressional Progressive Caucus and later as a Press Secretary for Congresswoman Lois Frankel until joining Oceana in 2019.
