Born and raised in North Carolina, Genevieve grew up spending time with family on the Southern Outer Banks and learned to sail in the summer on the Neuse River and by Cape Lookout National Seashore, giving her a deep appreciation for coastal communities.

Prior to joining the team at Oceana, Genevieve spent several years at the National Park Foundation managing their Direct Response Marketing program. She started her career at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and wore numerous hats over the years she spent in their Development Department. She now enjoys the Kennedy Center as a frequent patron. She attended George Mason University on an academic and public speaking scholarship, obtaining a degree in Media Production and Criticism, and graduating with honors. Her honors thesis research focused on the impacts of displacement and environmental racism on language acquisition amongst Aboriginal Australians. Outside of work and spending time with loved ones, her rescue golden retriever, Basil, maintains the home’s social calendar with frequent hikes and trips to the dog park.
