Graduate in Journalism in the Federal University of Goiás (UFG) and a master’s degree in social anthropology in the same institution, Maiara also holds a PhD from the Postgraduate Program in Social Anthropology at the State University of Campinas (Unicamp). As a journalist, she has extensive experience working with social movements and indigenous peoples and in journalistic coverage of guidelines related to human rights and socio-environmental rights. As an anthropologist, she works mainly on research related to land struggle movements and forms of organization and resistance of peasant groups.
