Manager of Development & Partnerships

Oceana Canada is seeking a collaborative, detail-oriented, and mission-driven fundraising professional to join our team as Manager of Development & Partnerships for a maternity leave contract. In this key role, you’ll support the execution of Oceana Canada’s 2025–2026 major gifts and donor communications strategy.

You will manage and grow a portfolio of donors and prospects, lead the development of compelling donor proposals and reports, and collaborate across teams to drive engagement and revenue growth in support of our ocean conservation campaigns. Reporting to the Senior Director of Communications and Development, you’ll work closely with the Executive Director, campaign leads, and international fundraising colleagues to meet fundraising goals and advance Oceana’s mission.

Oceana Canada was established as an independent charity in 2015 and is part of the largest international advocacy group dedicated solely to ocean conservation. Oceana Canada has successfully campaigned to ban plastic pollution, end the shark fin trade, make rebuilding depleted fish populations the law, improve the way fisheries are managed and protect marine habitat. Canada has the longest coastline in the world, with an ocean surface area of 7.1 million square kilometres, or 70 per cent of its landmass. Oceana Canada believes that Canada has a national and global obligation to manage our natural resources responsibly and help ensure a sustainable source of protein for the world’s growing population. Oceana Canada works with civil society, academics, fishers, Indigenous Peoples and the federal government to return Canada’s formerly vibrant oceans to health and abundance. The ideal candidate has 4+ years of major gift fundraising experience, a strong track record of securing major gifts, and a passion for ocean conservation and evidence-based policy change. Experience in the environmental or advocacy sectors and familiarity with Salesforce and CRA guidelines are strong assets. This is a Fixed-Term, 1-Year maternity leave position, with potential extension up to 18 months. This role is based our Toronto office on a hybrid schedule with 3-days a week in the office (Tues, Wed, Thurs)  The role reports to the Senior Director of Communications and Development with a Pay Range: $$38.46-$45.67/ hour.
