Our campaigns have delivered over 300 victories against overfishing, habitat destruction, oil and plastic pollution, and the loss of threatened species. Position Summary
The Communication Analyst will be responsible for implementing and managing communication strategies for campaigns and media relations. This role involves producing strategic content for various platforms, covering events, and building strong media relationships to strengthen Oceana’s image and support the success of its campaigns. Additional responsibilities include institutional communication, assisting with strategic communication planning, engagement activities, and performance analysis.
Academic and Professional Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Organizational Communication, Advertising and Public Relations.
- Proven experience in:
- Writing and editing journalistic content.
- Event coverage.
- Communication for campaigns or causes.
- Media relations and press office activities.
- Producing publications such as booklets and scientific reports.
- Proficiency in tools like PowerPoint and Canva.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Develop tailored communication plans for events and activities aligned with organizational strategies.
- Provide creative and technical support for event coverage, such as report launches, public hearings, and offline actions.
- Plan and execute press and communication strategies targeting campaign audiences.
- Create press office materials, including press releases, media alerts, and briefings. Prepare and conduct interviews and support organizational spokespersons.
- Develop institutional materials, such as fact sheets and Q&A documents.
- Respond to journalists’ requests while fostering strong media relationships.
- Organize and accompany field trips and events for journalists.
- Write content for the website, including blogs and articles, and other digital channels.
- Coordinate the production of digital and print materials, such as newsletters, email marketing, brochures, guides, studies, and scientific reports.
- Hire and manage contractors for specific projects.
- Support the creation of presentations, performance reports, and internal documents.
- Prepare informational and institutional materials targeted at organizational supporters.
- Assist in organizing events, such as report launches, workshops, training sessions, courses, and external meetings.
- Oversee the production of promotional materials.
- Contribute to the strategic communication plan with clear goals, deadlines, and performance indicators.
- Collaborate with science, advocacy, and public policy teams to align communications with strategic objectives.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and interest in working with partner organizations and social movements supporting Oceana’s campaigns.
