Vice President, Philippines | Oceana

Vice President, Philippines

Do you want to make a difference protecting the health of our oceans and the communities who rely on them? Come join our team in the Philippines – dedicated professionals campaigning for our oceans, which play a critical role in reducing the impacts of climate change, help feed a growing population, and support the livelihoods of fisherfolk in this hotspot of global marine biodiversity.

Founded in 2001, Oceana is the world’s largest nonprofit organization focused solely on ocean advocacy. We achieve measurable change by conducting specific, science-based campaigns with fixed deadlines and clearly articulated goals. Our campaigns focus on reforming policy in countries that are responsible for a quarter of the world’s wild-caught fish, including Belize, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Peru, the Philippines, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and the 27 countries of the European Union.

Oceana is seeking a Vice President to head our Philippines campaign team. For this important role, Oceana seeks a leader with creativity, ambition, demonstrated success and a well-honed instinct for achieving public policy decisions at the national level. The Vice President must be able to articulate a vision, identify strategic opportunities, and advance them through a range of tactics. The leader for the Philippines must have the experience and good judgment to anticipate and target important issues, quickly formulate plans, mobilize resources and delegate with clarity. This person will be responsible for all aspects of Oceana’s work in the Philippines – from campaign strategy and design through implementation and will serve as an avid and persuasive advocate for Oceana’s work. The incumbent will serve as a member of Oceana’s Global Executive Committee of senior leaders and will represent the work in the Philippines to internal and external audiences.

Strong candidates for this position will have demonstrated an ability to achieve national policy change in the Philippines, preferably but not necessarily in the field of conservation. Strong candidates will also have an advanced degree in a field related to policy, law or science and 10+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Oceana values a diverse workforce and welcomes people different from each other in many ways, including characteristics such as race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, and national origin. Oceana considers all qualified candidates and seeks to recruit from a diverse candidate pool.
