Anne grew up bouncing up and down the East Coast before settling in Boston where she studied International Relations (with emphases on economic development and Latin America) and Spanish Literature at Boston University.
She worked in food marketing and communications with companies ranging from startups to a celebrity chef’s media company to a cheese magazine. Growing disillusionment with the food systems and supply chains that afforded her these wonderful roles led Anne back to school and into environmental science.
In December, Anne received her MSc in International Marine Environmental Consulting from Newcastle University. Her coursework focused on production, demand, and distribution of marine edible resources, capped off with a thesis that identified SME-scale supply chains and end markets for wet kelp distribution within the UK, completed in partnership with a Scottish kelp producer. The opportunity to study these systems through interview-collected data and subsequent analysis prompted the same interest that’s brought her to our team as the new IFT data fellow. She’s looking forward to the opportunity to explore interdisciplinary, data-supported solutions towards the campaign’s goal of ending illegal fishing and increasing transparency.
In her free time, Anne does pottery poorly, packs and eats picnics in the park regardless of the weather, and enjoys open-water swimming in a way that is extremely weather-dependent.
