Antar Mijail Pérez Botello

Marine Ecology Specialist

Master in science and PhD student in the Graduate Program in Biological Sciences at the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

I am passionate about the sea, underwater photography and scientific illustration. During the Project Alacranes expedition, I will take images of the seabed to produce digital models of the reefs in three dimensions. This method is known as photogrammetry and has been used largely to digitize the Earth’s crust but rarely on the seafloor.

I am excited to be part of this expedition because the information we will obtain will be critical for reef conservation proposals and short- and long-term ecological studies.
