Gillian grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland, but found a love for the oceans by spending summers on Florida’s gulf coast, snorkeling and collecting seashells. She developed a passion for environmental protection and wildlife conservation while studying at the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina. After earning her bachelor’s degree in Communication, Gillian returned to Washington, D.C. to work in Congress as a Communications Fellow for the Congressional Progressive Caucus and later as a Press Secretary for Congresswoman Lois Frankel.

Gillian is Oceana’s Senior International Communications Manager. She leads the organization’s public relations and public affairs efforts, raises brand awareness, and secures national and international press for Oceana’s campaigns.
