Irene Campmany

Senior Communications Officer, Europe

Oceana Staff

Irene is a senior communications officer at Oceana in Europe, where she leads efforts to strengthen the organisation’s public presence and develop high‑impact communications strategies.

Her work focuses on reinforcing Oceana’s media relations, amplifying its voice across social media and digital platforms, and ensuring its advocacy reaches broader and more diverse audiences.

With experience across environmental NGOs, European institutions, and the private sector, Irene brings a strategic, agile, and results‑driven approach to communications. She holds a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Media from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and an MSc in International Politics from the University of Amsterdam.

Born and raised in Barcelona, Irene’s bond with the ocean was forged early through childhood summers spent in the Balearic Islands, where part of her family is from. These formative years nurtured a deep respect for marine ecosystems and shaped her long‑standing commitment to their protection.

Driven by a strong sense of purpose, Irene beliefs that tackling the climate and biodiversity crises is one of the defining challenges of our time. She channels that conviction through communications and storytelling—deploying bold, creative, and strategic thinking to inspire action, influence decision‑making, and contribute to a healthier ocean and a more sustainable future.
