Maeve Arthur

Marine Scientist

Oceana Staff

Maeve recently joined Oceana as a Marine Scientist on the Climate and Energy team.

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from Davidson College, Maeve pursued a master’s degree in Coastal Environmental Management from Duke University. Her master’s project explored shellfish aquaculture management priorities in Florida, Maine and North Carolina.
Maeve has also completed research on ocean carbon dioxide removal technologies with the National Wildlife Federation, marine microplastics through the National Science Foundation, and equity in marine protected areas through Duke University. She has also pursued advocacy and policy work at the North Carolina Coastal Federation and the Energy and Environmental Study Institute. She loved exploring the world of seagrass restoration and conservation as project manager of the Duke RESTORE seagrass team.

Maeve’s upbringing in coastal Maine fostered her love for the ocean, as well as her desire to protect marine environments and elevate coastal communities. Outside of work, she loves to read, crochet, try new restaurants, and spend time with friends.
