2015 SeaChange Summer Party - Oceana

2015 SeaChange Summer Party

The SeaChange Summer Party is an Annual Orange County event recognizing the ocean’s importance and honoring those who are actively helping to preserve its habitats and wildlife.

On August 1, 2015, Oceana held its 8th Annual SeaChange Summer Party – Mad about the Oceans with special guests Jon Hamm and Oceana Ambassador January Jones.

The evening’s honoree was Dr. Enric Sala, a National Geographic explorer-in-residence actively engaged in exploration, research, and communications to advance ocean conservation. His over 100 scientific publications are widely recognized and used for a number conservation efforts including the creation of marine reserves. Sala’s present goals are to help protect the last pristine marine ecosystems worldwide and to develop new business models for marine conservation. He has led expeditions to some of the most remote places in the ocean and conducted the first comprehensive scientific surveys of these pristine areas to obtain a baseline for the ocean’s status. Sala also produces documentary films to raise awareness about the importance of a healthy ocean and to inspire country leaders to create large marine reserves. Working with key conservation organizations, Enric was key in inspiring the creation of the Pacific Remote Atolls National Monument in the USA, the Motu Motiro Hiva Marine Park in Chile, and the Seamounts Marine Managed Area in Costa Rica.

Other guests included Kiernan Shipka, Sam Waterston, Beth Behrs, Michael Gladis, Aimee Teegarden, Nolan Gould, Billy Joe Armstrong, Oscar Nunez, Leonor Varela, Lillimar Hernandez, and Olympic swimmer Aaron Peirsol.

The sold out evening was held on the private beaches of The Strand in Dana Point with over 400 guests in attendance.

SeaChange guests were treated to specialty Nolet Gin and Ketel One Vodka cocktails and a delicious dinner. The evening included presentations from Oceana executives and celebrity supporters. Guests also participated in silent and live auctions to benefit ocean conservation. The 2015 program highlighted Oceana’s Save the Oceans, Feed the World campaign, which aims to restore the biodiversity and abundance of the world’s oceans to support a growing global population.

The evening was capped with a musical performance by actress and singer Bethany Joy Lenz. Party-goers then spent time dancing in the ocean breeze at the Post Party Lounge.
